Comma Food & Wine

Known to be Moorabbin's destination hangout, Comma is a food and wine restaurant and bar nestled in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Wanting a fresh, new hospitality fitout, they entrusted Canopy to bring their vision to life, all the way from the design process to the construction of the space.

Aiming to design a hospitality fitout that fostered a real neighbourhood feel, there was a strong focus on creating shared spaces for patrons. We sought to develop a warm and inviting hospitality fitout featuring a communal dining space, extending natural timber tabletops to form a communal dining table. On top of this, we constructed operable glass doors within the shopfront to connect the outdoor beer garden for summertime dining.

For this particular hospitality fitout, we opted for a colour palette that reflected their brand's green hues. This was seen across feature walls, seating and complemented by greenery throughout. Contrastingly, we included warmer shades to echo the use of natural materials in the dining area.

Hoping to create a space that served both as a restaurant and a bar, our designers played with both luxurious and industrial elements throughout Comma's hospitality fitout – featuring teal velvet booth-style bar areas and tan leather benches in dining areas. Black timber and polished concrete were integrated into the joinery and flooring, adding to the industrial look and feel of the fitout.

Design Phase

Our Consultant and Designer meet with you to discuss your business fitout needs and get a clear perspective on your vision. Proposal

We prepare proposals based on the brief from the initial meeting where we go through and plan the look and feel of the proposed business fitout project. This is where we get feedback from you so we can proceed to the next step. We offer cost effective solutions for an affordable fitout, so your budget is always top of mind.

Site Commencement

All costs are agreed upon during this stage and the outline of the project and timelines are discussed. We organise all relevant permits to be approved and issue you with a final Construction Set, Fixtures and Finishes Schedule and a Project Schedule.

Construction

We carefully source and recruit the right contractors for each fitout construction job. We work with our team of Designers and suppliers to ensure consistency across the look and feel of the project, and conduct weekly site visits with you so you can check in on the fitout and how it is coming together.

At completion, we conduct a handover to you after ensuring you’ve had a thorough walk through of the new space and make sure you are happy with your completed project. We continue to work with you to take care of any additional needs and ensure they are resolved in readiness for your relocation.
