Building a Home for Healing
The Nest Psychology Melbourne — affectionately called The Nest — is a clinic dedicated to creating safe, nurturing environments for children, adolescents, and families. Guided by the philosophy of “nesting,” the practice focuses on providing the warmth and security that young people need to thrive.
When The Nest opened their new Surrey Hills location, they wanted a fitout that reflected this ethos — homely, warm, and inviting, while ensuring functionality and privacy for sensitive conversations.
Designing Safety and Comfort Into Every Detail
Psychology fitouts require more than just good looks. They need to feel calm, supportive, and private.
At The Nest, we integrated sound-absorbing features throughout the consultation rooms to protect confidentiality and create a sense of security. Soft, homely materials and a warm, muted colour palette helped turn the 90m² tenancy into an environment that feels approachable and reassuring rather than clinical.

A Functional Small Space With Big Impact
Mental health spaces are unique: they need to foster trust, protect privacy, and support healing. This medical fitout demonstrates how thoughtful design can directly impact user wellbeing, helping clients feel safe to open up, connect, and grow.
Every element — from acoustic panelling to comfortable furnishings — was considered to support the work of psychologists and their clients. The result is an office that is practical for staff, but above all, welcoming for families who walk through the door.
