The team at Sornem Private Wealth are highly skilled advisors who provide tailored financial and investment advice to long-term clients, families and corporates. In recent years the business has grown so significantly that the team needed to relocate to a new space. Vision is something Sornum has bucket loads of, so when they selected their new office space they didn’t let the obvious choices dictate the end result!

Design Concept

When we met with Drew Meredith, one of Sornem’s Senior Advisors and Partner he told us, ‘you have the freedom to create something so long as it exudes the same values of our business.’ He was looking for a high quality finish without compromising the finer details, the Canopy Fitouts team wanted to embrace a design that had an edgy yet secure feeling. When we saw the space we knew we had a fantastic palette to work with! ​​

Industrial Rainforest

Offices that exist over multiple levels are a treat and Sornem’s new space in Richmond was no exception to this rule. The lowest level of the tenancy had a real ‘bunker’ feel which the new design certainly modernised, while maintaining a gentle nod to its industrial roots. This is where the rainforest concept starts, with kitchen, breakout and communal recharge spaces all housed on this level. From here we go to the trees where client facing meetings are held. The treatments are more detailed to evoke that warm and secure feeling juxtaposed with the industrial setting to maintain a modern edge. Plush statement guests chairs are strewn throughout, set against a black and white palette with detailed natural wood laser cut walls and doors. The Canopy Fitouts design team also made sure they maximised natural light flow throughout the level with lots of glass.

Last but not least, we head to the canopy of Sornum’s office, this is where the team of Advisors spend their time thinking over shaping client wealth, investment strategies and other unconventional wisdom of value to their clients. In line with its use, this area has to be a place the team can focus and, of course, be comfortable.

Canopy Fitouts achieved this by ensuring transitions from one space to another were clear. Karl Simity, Director of Canopy Fitouts says, ‘break out spaces were designed to be professional yet fun and we ensured workstations were all about function rather than gimmick or trend based. Light was another very important element of this workplace because the industrial feel is sleek, but must be balanced by natural light so it doesn’t appear heavy.’

We prepare a proposal based on the brief from the initial meeting where we will go through the plan and the look and feel of the proposed business fitout project. This is where we get feedback from you so we can proceed to the next step. We offer cost effective solutions for an affordable fitout, so your budget is always top of mind.

Costs are agreed upon in this stage and the outline of the project is discussed including timelines. We will organise all relevant permits to be approved and issue you with a final Construction Set, Fixtures and Finishes Schedule and a Project Schedule.

We carefully source and recruit the right contractors for each fitout construction job. We work with our team of Designers and suppliers to ensure consistency across the look and feel of the project, and conduct weekly site visits with you so you can check in on the agreed design and look of your fitout, and see how it’s all coming together.

At completion, we handover to you after ensuring you’ve had a thorough walk through of the new space and make sure you are happy with your completed project. We continue to work with you to take care of any additional needs and ensure they are resolved in readiness for your relocation.
