Turning a Showroom Into a Premium Destination for International Golf Apparel
U Choose Golf is a prominent distributor and retailer of premium, international golf apparel and lifestyle brands across Australia and New Zealand. As the brand's presence grew, so did the need for a physical space that could match the calibre of the labels it carries.
From Showroom to Experience
The primary objective of this transformation was to elevate the U Choose Golf environment into a highly inviting, premium space; one that resonates with both internal staff and discerning clientele in equal measure. Rather than treating the showroom as a straightforward retail setup, the brief called for something more ambitious: an experiential retail space that synthesises the brand's core identity with advanced interior architecture.
Central to that strategy was the optimisation of visual merchandising, achieved through custom-designed lightbox joinery, precision floating shelves, and specialised architectural feature lighting. Each element worked in tandem to highlight the texture, colour and quality of the apparel on display.

A Colourway That Carries Through From the Street
The exterior application is a straightforward extension of U Choose Golf's brand colourway: grey and green. Rather than treating the interior as a separate design exercise, that same palette flows directly into the ground floor retail space, where grey floor finishes and green feature walls establish an immediate sense of continuity as clients step in from the street.
It's a deliberate strategy: highlighting the apparel on display while making the transition from exterior to interior feel seamless rather than jarring.
Ascending Into a More Refined Experience
Where the ground floor establishes the brand's core identity, the first floor delivers a shift in register entirely. Offices and first-floor retail exhibit lighter tones of brown and white. Upon ascending the staircase, guests encounter a distinctly elevated, sophisticated ambience – curated specifically to provide a more exclusive retail experience.
This kind of tonal shift between floors requires careful planning to avoid feeling disjointed. The transition needed to read as a natural progression rather than two disconnected environments under one roof. Clients move naturally through the space from an energetic, brand-forward ground floor into a calmer, more considered space upstairs.
Turning a Compliance Requirement Into a Design Feature
As part of the works, the existing staircase underwent comprehensive modification to achieve full commercial regulatory compliance.
Rather than treating this as a purely functional or code-driven exercise, our team integrated the staircase into the broader aesthetic narrative of the fitout. We applied architectural feature panelling and high-performance textured paint substrates to establish it as a sophisticated visual anchor within the space.
This is a good example of how compliance and design don't need to compete. With the right approach, a regulatory requirement can become one of the more memorable design details in the entire project.
